Watch What you Post! A Video-d Response

Hi folks! For a class assignment, I needed to create a video response to one of these many excellent Youtube Videos.

Due to lack of time and creativity on a Monday (you know how it goes), I chose to poke at the public service announcement:

The Internet Gets the Colbert Bump

Comedy Central's The Colbert Show particularly hits a special nerdy chord in me.  It's probably one of the only ways that I can get a hilarious interview with a researcher of obscure or high-level topic. These interviews can border on insightful or harrowing -- all with a mock-conservative pundit angle no less.

The Periodic Table of Social Media

Did you know that social media methods, concepts, and personalities can be combined into a pretty graphical representation spanning the full spectrum of colors?  The author of the Eyecube blog, Rick, came up with a thoughtfully-pieced periodic table of social media elements.

The Diaspora of the Most Prolific Category of iPhone Apps in the World

There's an App for just about anything.

You might remember that line in commercials for Apple's App Store.  And yes, in fact there is an App for anything -- even gastronomic events

A Fortunate Unfortunate Viewing of "You've Got Mail"

With the Margherita pizza slowly charring in the oven, I found that my roommate switched on the TV to Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan's classic story about um...email, "You've Got Mail."  Supported by Dave Chappelle's breakthrough role as stereotypical ethnic best friend, "You've Got Mail" showed the mainstream that yeah, there's connections to be made via the internet. Lovely connections.

tupac

Instead of the normal Kaynobi "poke-at-the Internet" formula, I felt that I needed to share a 1988 interview a young soon-to-be rapper that redefined music in the 1990's and onwards.

If you haven't seen Tupac Amaru Shakur's interview when he was 17, you're really missing out on some real knowledge.  The interview "Thug Angel" brought out Tupac's street-inspired thoughts before he catapulted into the mainstream music scene.

Brickfish! Contest!

I've submitted an entry into the campaign-centered photo community Brickfish's "Beautiful Planet" contest to see how it engages its community.  The idea is that you send in your nature-involved picture, spread it around using your established social networks (facebook, hi5, myspace, etc.) and have people vote like crazy to get you a $5000 prize. Or was it $500.  Either way, it's good money!

Why I'm Too Lazy to Use an RSS Reader

It took me a very long time to actually jump on the RSS reader bandwagon.  I mean, it's not that I didn't know what it was or how to use it, but I just didn't feel like checking one.  It took an assignment from a graduate-level class to force me off my butt and use one.  I could end the blog post here, but it's probably better to explain why I haven't used an RSS reader...

Exclusive One-on-One Interview with...Multiply?

Ok, it's not really an "interview."  It's my examination of the relatively unknown (gosh only 11 million users) social networking site, Multiply.  These questions stemmed from an APOC social network lab.  I thought it would be fun if it was a Q&A session with my imaginary Multiply C-level exec, so here you go:

Facebook in Real Life

Have you ever wondered if the same social networking methods in Facebook or your other favorite SNS (like what?) could be applied to real life?  How would you confirm a friend?  Would you take a spraypaint can to your friend's house to write on his wall? I wouldn't even want to know what a Superpoke feels like...
